Lady Dragons Take on Arizona

Mia Lucchetti

Over winter break, the girl’s varsity basketball team took Arizona by storm during the Arizona Jam Tournament. From the 26th to the 30th, the Dragons competed in Tempe, Arizona against many Scottsdale high schools.

The team competed in three games during the co-ed tournament. Senior, Presley Sorensen, described the tournament as “a wonderful team bonding experience, very exhausting but overall a great time.”

The tournament was “Super fun, I really liked getting to play teens from other areas,” claims Senior, Mia Luchetti. Besides local Arizona schools, athletes commuted from as far as Oregon and Washington.

The girls ended the tournament on a high note ranking in 3rd place. Along with Senior, Sienna Hoban, who received the All-Tournament Award for the Jam tournament.

Hey Dragons! I am a junior at SVHS, and I joined Dragon’s Tale to explore my interest in journalism. I play volleyball and hang out with friends in my free time. After high school, I plan to go to college and study magazine or broadcast journalism.

What’s good Dragons! My name is Mia Lucchetti and I am so excited to be the sports editor of the SVHS Dragon’s Tale. This is my first year in the class and I can not wait to capture anything and everything surrounding sports and more! I love being involved here at school. I have played on the Varsity girl's basketball team for 4 years, I am part of the broadcast team on campus, I am a part of 5 different clubs, and have started my own club with friends.
