Curious Bites: Valentines Day

Curious+Bites%3A+Valentines+Day

Here we are, another year of sickenly sweet chocolates, red and white roses, and tons of pinkish wrapping paper. Valentine’s Day is exciting for some and annoying for others. But either way, both parties can enjoy the sweet treats themselves, or gift them to a special someone. Today I’ll be ranking my top five Valentine’s Day treats, and hopefully give you ideas for what to buy next year!

  1. Assorted Fruit Basket: I’ve only had the opportunity to eat these large gifts a couple of times, but they’ve easily reached my top five because of how beautiful and tasty they are. If you’re a big fan of fruit, you will love this basket. However, this will not be higher than a five because of the price. These go for at least forty dollars, so it’s not a gift that can be bought for everyone.

  1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries: If you want something that looks elegant, charming, and delicious, go out and buy a few of these strawberries. They often come in groups of three to five, but the price will vary depending on where you get them and if they have certain toppings. This is a refreshing alternative to just plain chocolate, and more affordable than the fruit basket.

  1. See’s Candy Chocolate: A classic, these boxes of chocolates are popular and comfortable for those who need a gift with a variety of chocolates. I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate, and it takes me a while to finish a box because of how rich they are. Sometimes having an assortment of chocolate may mean that the recipient won’t like everything!

  1. Rice Crispy Treats: These fun marshmallow-cereal squares can be easily made at home or bought from a local bakery or store. These fun things can be decorated with V-day-themed icing or sprinkles, and wrapped in a nice plastic bag to keep them sealed. These are great if you’re on a budget or just want to relive those childhood memories.

  1. Chocolate Covered Pretzels: This may be surprising or lackluster as the top Valentine’s Day gift, but I stand by my decision. If you’re someone who doesn’t love rich chocolate or overly sweet desserts, these sweet and savory pretzels are aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to have any time of day. Not only can they be decorated nicely with themed chocolate and sprinkles, they can also be paired nicely with other gifts because of their affordability.

Whether you’re spending the day together with a loved one or by yourself on a personal date, don’t hold back from indulging once and a while and trying these lovely treats.
