Dragons Girls Cross Country

Faced with a league showdown on senior night, the girls’ cross country finished sixth back on Sept. 26 at Maxwell Park. The season has been rough for the girls, entering the new Vine Valley Athletic League (VVAL) and losing key pieces of last year’s team.

However, with their captain Malia Cashel leading the way, the girls are projected to make NCS (North Coast Sectional). They are currently fourth out seven teams in VVAL.

Grace Kiser, a sophmore running for varsity, emphasizes that “we have each others’ backs,” hoping to continue improving her time.

Emma Brophy, a junior entering her third year running cross country, explains the team is  improving by having “challenging practices and always being pushed to succeed as runners.”

Brophy captured the fastest time for Sonoma with a time of 20:53. Coming in second for Sonoma was Cashel with 20:54 while Kiser finished third for the Dragons with a time of 23:20.
