Dragons Girls Volleyball

While the varsity volleyball team established great team chemistry off the court, preparing for dances and participating in nerve, many players mentioned a lack of unity on the court. Senior, Gracie Vollert, mentioned, “Not winning as many games as we could have changed our team dynamic.”  This led them to a 12-13 record with two heavy losses to rivals, Justin Siena.

The lady Dragons played Vintage High School for Senior Night on Thursday, October 4th. The team has six skilled seniors: Olivia Herrick, Gracie Vollert, Maya Bigirimana, Ava Rognlien, Paulina Martindale, and Gabby Knudsen. The girls fought hard but came up short, losing all 3 games in their final match.

Senior, Olivia Herrick spoke about her last time playing at home after her four year career, stating, “It was sad playing in Pfeiffer Gym for the last time.” Herrick added, “Last years’ season as a varsity volleyball player was better than this years’.”

Senior, Gracie Vollert, had similar emotions regarding her last moments on the court being, “Bittersweet.” Although she is upset about the season coming to an end, Vollert is happy with the volleyball career she has had at SVHS.

Sophomore, Marissa White, is on track to be a four year varsity player, as she made varsity as a freshman. After witnessing two senior nights, White is excited for her time to move on, when it arrives in two years.
