The Sonoma Highs wrestling team is all about grit and determination, always ready to grapple their way to victory. This year, we are looking at a new and improved team with two girls and 23 guys. Having 16 contests over the span of three months, the Dragons have their eyes on the NCS Championship.

The Dragons first league match of the season was against Casa Grande, ranking top 5 in league, leading to a great night of action. With victories from Jerome Saldana, Wyatt Lee and Benny Stevenson and close matches with Stephen Rodriguez, Angelo Tellez, Donovan Riebli, Joel Avila Vega and Sam Stovall. 

Sam Stovall (junior) states “I enjoyed how much better I got throughout the season, and my favorite tournament was the one in Healdsburg because I placed third”. When asked what his most memorable moment of his wrestling career was, Wyatt Lee (senior) shared, “my most memorable moment was sophomore when I made NCS because I felt accomplished once I got there but it was hard and challenging”. As the mats roll up and the cheers echo, our wrestlers leave behind a season of unforgettable battles and hard earned victories.
