The girls’ tennis season has been difficult for the Lady Dragons. Although it has been a struggle, the girls have not given up. With one win against Napa High, the girls were optimistic with upcoming matches. Captain Solana Staes, senior, expressed her struggle stating that “the season is more difficult compared to other years because there are more people on the team.”

While other teammates are also feeling the season struggle “it has been rough but it challenges me to be better” commented senior, Sophanya Long. Although the girls are struggling they still had hope for the rest of the season. Many can agree that the best part of the season is the team bonding. Many freshmen stated that they will be playing again next year.

The team has come together and feels brokenhearted that their season is coming to an end. Senior Natalie Cullen mourned, “I will miss being together with everyone.”

The team was  also suffering from delays due to hot weather. With  the tennis courts rising to 10 degrees hotter than the outside air,  caused some practices to be canceled due to heat waves. One game was delayed sending only the varsity players to compete.

Maddie Gray, a freshman, first year player, stated that the sport is fun with team building but during matches the player is independent making the games more enjoyable.

While other teammates are content with their experience despite the losses. “We aren’t winning a lot but we have had good experiences for underclassmen,” claimed Alegria Silvi, junior.  Despite the rough season, the girls have persevered and are excited for upcoming seasons.

Good day Dragons! My name is Emma Griffith, this is my second year in the newspaper, and I will be the new editor for photography and art!! It still never gets old for me. Seeing the new information emerging with our school has always been interesting for me to report on and try my best to understand. I am on the girls' lacrosse team for the third year. Art is also my passion, taking AP 3d Design. Last year I made the Dragon's Tale logo, while this year's goal is to update the artwork to show my improvement.
