Boys’ volleyball held their first Senior night on April 4, honoring senior Sam Pierce – the only senior on the team. As the inaugural year for boys’ volleyball, more seniors will be honored in the coming years.

The team faced foes from Pinole Valley High School, losing the match two sets to none. The Spartans came out of the gate quick, winning the first two sets 25-17 and 25-19. The Dragons were able to score however, keeping their hopes up for a comeback. The Dragons were able to scratch by with a 25-19 victory in the third set. However, they dropped the fourth 25-22 after a hard fought back and forth set.

Now, the season is coming to a close, and the Dragons have a record of 2-11. All things considered, the boys played well for their first year and have been told of their promising potential from other coaches and established teams.

“The boys really impressed me considering not one of them had prior experience with the sport.” Pierce explained. “I could really see this team going somewhere in the coming years.” This outlook is not far-fetched as the boys will come back next year with experience under their belts and a hold on what the game entails.
