Baseball Beckons

Baseball has finally fallen upon us, and with that comes a new high school season. After faltering last year and finishing with a record of just 3-14, the varsity team has come out firing on all cylinders in 2022.

Varsity starter and senior, Landen Waldrop, stated “boys are hot” in reference to their 5-5 record so far, as well as their 6-4 victory over the Vintage Crushers.

Despite cruising to a 10-0 victory over Ygnacio Valley at the beginning of March, the Dragons have had to sweat out some games. On the 23rd, their 9-8 win over Casa Grande came by way of extra innings. A walk-off bunt, strategically placed down off the bat of Beau Jurasek was able to bring home the runner on third base, sending the Gauchos home in disappointment.

While the team is led by their fierce seniors, they also have a strong young core. With notable rising stars such as Andrew Bonfigili, Nic Scevola, and Nicholas Sebastiani, the team is in good hands for years to come.

Adrian Buckley claimed that “[he] loves the team dynamic… [they] look good and play good both on and off the field.”
