Soccer Boys and Girls Look to Finish the Season Strong

With strong league wins to finish up their seasons, both the boys and girls soccer teams qualified to compete in the North Coast Section division 3.

When asked about the boys team’s hopes for the playoffs, freshman Griffin Brophy stated that “the team is excited to continue our season, and we are poised for a deep run into the playoffs.”

As of the current moment, the boys just won their first playoff game by a score of 2-1 against hosts Rancho Cotate. When asked for comments on the game, captain Oscar Fernandez stated that it “was a very end to end game with lots of changes in possession that made it difficult to build momentum. It was a scrappy win, but a win nonetheless.”

After the boys’ win, the girls team hopes to continue the Dragons’ hot streak in NCS playoff games with their away game at Cardinal Newman.

When asked to comment on their playoff aspirations, senior Bella Brophy stated that the team “is looking forward to just playing another game” and that they “have the team strength to push through the hard times and scrape out wins.”

The girls’ team, with their mix of young talent and senior leadership, hopes to go deep in the playoffs, but want to take it one game at a time.

Both teams have what it takes to push for a championship, and they will have the full support of the Dragon community behind them with every game they play.
