‘Tis the Season to be a Hopeless Romantic

As Valentine’s Day is around the corner, rom-coms have become such a go to movie genre. Rom-coms were a popular genre in the early 2000s, and although the genre is dying there are still people who adore these movies and rewatch their favorite movie.

A few of the popular movies among teens include, 10 Things I Hate About You, She’s All That, Clueless, A Cinderella stories, To All The Boys, etc. Teens have fallen in love with this genre because of the cute but cheesy cliche these movies bring. Freshman Esmeralda Torres explained that “[her] favorite movie is She’s All That.”

Another reason as to why teens love these movies is because they like watching people get together and then starting to fall in love. Sophomore Natalie Cullen explains that her favorite romantic drama is “it’s okay to not be okay because it’s unpredictable and sweet.”

Senior Charlotte Bridant and junior Bella Steinley both agree that 10 Things I Hate About is their favorite movie to watch. “I love the trope between the two characters, they hate everyone but you.” The famous movie includes popular actors including Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger and Joseph Gorden-Levitt. The Shakespearean elements in this modern high school love story create a unique and fun movie for people of all ages.
