Positive Tests Lurk on Sidelines

With a shortened season, the sports teams at SVHS were excited to participate in the shortened season. Athletes were eager to make the short season memorable.

However, for some teams, that dream has not become a reality. With COVID exposures, a team or individual has to quarantine for 10 days from both school and sports.

With the shortened season, 10 days is around 20 percent of the season, which is a huge chunk of time for athletes.

So far this season, the varsity girls’ basketball team is the only team to be possibly exposed through sports, however with one student at SVHS testing positive, anyone who was in any of the student’s classes also had to be quarantined for 10 days. That included crucial members of some  teams.

For boys’ basketball a crucial member of the team has been out for 10 days and is coming back for the game against Healdsburg. Basketball  also lost a sophomore to health and safety protocol. Baseball also lost one of their best junior players.

Hopefully this year will have no more exposure, and all the teams can finish their seasons strongly.
