SVHS hosted its annual homecoming the week of Sept. 29th-Oct. 3.
The event, which was hosted by Leadership, featured spirit days, lunchtime activities, sporting events, and the homecoming dance on Saturday. Its theme was “Blast From the Past.”
On Sept. 29th, SVHS students dressed up in their favorite pajamas and participated in a cookie walk in the H-courtyard at lunch.
On Sept. 30th, students came to school using alternative backpacks – sporting luggage, baskets, and other miscellaneous items to carry their school supplies. At lunch, Leadership students hosted a carnival.
Oct. 1st was twin day, and at lunch, there was a competition for the best duo. In the evening, junior and senior girls participated in the 67th annual powderpuff football match, with athletes from the boys’ football team acting as coaches and cheering the players on. Students were also involved as referees and announcers during the game, which was won by the senior team with a score of 12-0.
Class colors day was on Oct. 2nd. Freshmen dressed in yellow, sophomores in pink, juniors in purple, and seniors in green. In the evening, students attended Float Fest, where those who participated worked on their class floats.
Lastly, on Oct. 3rd, students dressed up as their float themes. Freshmen were the 2000s; sophomores, the 1980s; juniors, the 1970s; and seniors, the 1950s. The school day culminated at 1 pm, with a parade down Broadway and a rally at the Plaza. That evening was the football game, where seniors Sophia De Torres and Dalan Lopata were crowned homecoming queen and king during halftime. Both football teams won their homecoming games, with the varsity team winning 40-21 and the junior varsity team winning 10-3 against San Rafael High School.
Finally, the week ended with a dance on Saturday from 7:00-9:00 in the gym. The dance featured a DJ, colorful decorations and lighting, and a photo booth, which students enjoyed as a fun-filled and memorable end to homecoming.
