Instead of heading to their third-period Dragon Time on Thursday, September 4th, Sonoma Valley High School students enjoyed a fun-filled Field Day and participated in activities hosted by Leadership.
These activities occurred on and around the football field and included games like musical chairs, cookie walk, pie a teacher, powder palooza, and Connect 4. Other sporting activities included soccer, spikeball, cornhole, and volleyball. In addition, members of Leadership created colorful portraits of students at a caricature station.
Freshman Evan Wright told The Dragon’s Tale that he really enjoyed getting his portrait drawn, and he even included a drawing of a ketchup packet on his caricature. He was also collecting stamps on a pink card, which students could gather from each activity to earn an Otter Pop.
Although many students appeared to enjoy the activities, some students mentioned that they do not particularly like Field Day.

Junior Bryan Vasquez said that he enjoyed last year’s Field Day more. He noticed students did not participate as much this year as last year. Additionally, sophomore Marcus Brown discussed that while he is personally not a fan of Field Day, the activities included were enticing and enjoyable for others.
Some activities that were popular among students included powder palooza, which left many students covered in colorful powder after the event, as well as sporting events like volleyball and soccer.
Calvin Hoffstetter, a junior, enthused about his Favorite Field day activity: spikeball. Hoffstetter noted that although the games were the same as last year, he found that they were quite fun and that there was a good selection to choose from.
