An online threat to Sonoma Valley Unified School District’s safety was sent to the Sonoma Police Department on Thursday, February 19.
After the threat, in an email sent that morning to parents and guardian, SVUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Rodriguez-Chien ensured that all campuses were “safe and not at risk.” Dr. Rodriguez-Chien also confirmed that the district was communicating with the SPD as “they continue their investigation.”
Specifics of the threat are not currently public information due to an ongoing investigation.
However, in an email interview with Dragon’s Tale, Chief Brandon Cutting from the SPD stated that after an initial investigation to figure out the credibility of the threat, the department “served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of W. Spain St, Sonoma.” This made the police “confident that there is no risk to the schools, students, or the community.”
