After its debut last year, the 2025 Noche Latina Dance has been canceled.
In 2024, Slate 2 fulfilled one of their campaign promises and created Noche Latina, a school dance honoring hispanic culture. It was held at the local Boys and Girls Club with a live band and cultural foods.
This year, it was canceled. According to an email sent out February 6th from the SVHS Administration Team, the dance, which was set to be held in Golton Hall on February 7th 2025, was canceled due to a lack of ticket sales.
Slate 3 Financial advisor and senior, Teagan Rhodes, remarks that “[leadership class] really appreciates the support from people who wanted to go”. Those who purchased tickets were refunded by Ms. Krauss, the Student Activities Bookkeeper, automatically on February 6th.
It is unclear if the dance will be brought back in the future as Leadership weighs their continuous history with low ticket sales.
