Senior Destiny Tapia has been the 2024 class president for the past two years. She has put immense time and energy into planning events, organizing her class, and many other tedious tasks.
Tapia’s persistent leadership as last year’s junior class president allows her to easily adapt to the senior student body. She explains that she “loves to plan events and have a big leadership role.” This role allows her to connect with more students on campus, which she values greatly. Finding time to be able to suit students’ interests and making events inclusive and fun are duties Tapia excelled at.
She shares that the hardest part of being president is having “everything fall on [her].” Finding the time to prioritize leading her class among sports, academics, and other extracurricular activities proved a huge challenge, but Tapia persevered.
As she graduates, Tapia has her eyes set on Arizona State University’s pre-nursing program. Excitement awaits in Arizona, and she looks forward to “meeting new people and truly finding [herself].” Taking a break from Sonoma while pursuing education in a career she is passionate about is of the utmost importance to Tapia, and she is ecstatic to pursue this in college.
