The winter rally took place on Thursday, Jan. 18, consisting of lively games after a week of spirit days. Tuesday kicked off the week with a comfy day, followed by snow gear day on Wednesday, white-out on Thursday and beanie day on Friday. Students came to school sporting winter-appropriate outfits such as snow pants and white hoodies.
The rally started with varsity sports teams consisting of soccer, basketball, wrestling, and for the first time; e-sports. The e-sports team, which started as a club, was led by Mr. Anspach and a handful of students. They performed for the school by playing a round of SmashBros and playing Mario Bros music.
Leadership planned many games for the rally, such as a teacher vs. students basketball game, and a hamster ball soccer match among students. The students successfully won the first round of the basketball game, but the teachers came back and won the second. The first round of the hamster match proved to be a crowd favorite, as students participating sent their opponents flying while simultaneously trying to shoot goals.
The dance team also took to the court, performing their routine with expertise and leaving students astonished. Senior Athena Villasenor stated, “Holy Cow! They are SO good!”.
This rally kicked off the first one of the year and rang in the beginning of 2024 with dancing, laughter, and excitement.
