Students celebrated Homecoming with five consecutive days of spirit wear and events throughout the week.
Monday’s spirit theme was country vs. country club. Although there was no event, students were seen sporting country boots and preppy pleated skirts.
Tuesday’s spirit event was the school carnival, hosted in the H-wing, which had cotton candy, music, and games such as Corn Hole and Jenga. During the carnival, some students also bought tickets to “pie” teachers with shaving cream in pie tins. The teachers wore clear ponchos and goggles to protect their faces and clothes.
While students were “pieing” teachers, they were wearing Tuesday’s spirit wear: soccer mom vs. BBQ dad. Tiana Harris, senior, acknowledged that this was her favorite spirit day because “it was super easy to do and it was funny.”
On Wednesday, students dressed as their favorite celebrities. Porter Abodeely, freshman, enthusiastically said “I dressed as my favorite football player, DK Metcalf. He plays for the Seahawks.”
Powderpuff also took place on Wednesday. The junior girls played against the senior girls, and after a fun night, the seniors took the win. Students wore their pink clothes to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
On Thursday, students wore their class colors. Seniors wore green, juniors wore purple, sophomores wore orange, and freshmen wore yellow. Leadership also hosted a gym rally decorated with the classes’ individual colors. Later that night was float fest, where all the floats were judged. They were stationed in a line facing the dragon in the parking lot, and there was music and food for students to enjoy.
Finally, on Friday, students dressed as their float. School ended at 12:55 p.m. so students and staff could get ready for the float parade, during which police blocked the streets so the band, candidates, and floats could make their way down Broadway.
The floats brought celebration and color to Broadway and the Plaza.
