AP test returns In Person
For the first time in two years, students are finally able to take their exams in person. Although they haven’t had the smoothest ride during these past two weeks, it really has helped figuring out the causes of the issues and fixing them for next year.
Senior Nadia Alquezada took the English AP literature exam that happened on Wednesday, May 4. She explained that “the first portion wasn’t bad but there were no open bathrooms before the exam or during the break. During the second portion the time wasn’t working, messing up the rhythm solely relied on the proctor.” With a two year window of there not being any in person AP exams, there are bound to be issues students and proctors face.
Senior Diego Macedonio took the AP Statistics test that happened on Thursday, May 5. He said that “honestly it wasn’t that bad. It seemed a little easier but there were many distractions; meetings in the other room, clocks weren’t working and the fire alarm went off.” Some teachers have advocated for AP tests to begin being held in off-campus locations to combat these distractions.
Senior Shanice Mayfield took the AP Biology exam on May 11. “Going into the test, I thought it was going to be hard and I would be unprepared. However, after the first section, I felt better understanding the knowledge we had learned before and applied it to the Free Response Question.” In AP exams, it is difficult to remember all of the course work from the entire year. Although, a few weeks before the exams, teachers and students review all of the information they’ve learned to be fully prepared. Congratulations to all of the students that took AP exams.
