SVHS Tries on College

During spring break, there were many students that received acceptances from universities and have started to view the schools they are most interested in. As more college decisions come out late March and early April, more college tours will occur during the second spring break happening in April.

Most of the tours over the break were within the state, one notable senior touring Cal Poly Humboldt. Sawyer Finley explained she “really liked how pretty the campus was because of the redwood trees and how close the ocean was.” Through their visits, seniors are able to get comfortable with universities and ultimately imagine if they can see themselves living on campus for the next four years.

Senior Isabelle Costanzo “went to Chapman and Loyola Marymount” and claims to have liked “Chapman because it was in a nice little town,” and like “Loyola because it was on a hill and had pretty views.”

It’s quite difficult for seniors to view universities outside of the state with such a short amount of time. Not being able to visit universities during this past spring break may cause stress, but having a second break weeks later allows seniors to finalize their decisions, becoming able to see the colleges they are going to before commitment day, May 1st.
