With key wins against Division 1 El Camino and rival Ukiah, the Dragons are striving for a strong finish and positive showing in playoffs. “We hope to make it through a couple rounds of NCS,” stated senior captain Andrew Powers.

Entering their final three games of the season, the SVHS boys’ water polo team currently holds a record of 7-8 and sits in 12th place in North Coast Sectional (NCS) standings.

Captain Dominic Fiorito, a junior, echoed a similar excitement, explaining that the team is, “looking to finish above .500 and win a game in NCS.” Both captains expressed their positive outlooks on the season so far, noting improvement from last year.

With a thrilling overtime victory against Napa High School on Sept. 25, the Dragons’ 13-12 win brought their overall record to 5-6 before going 2-2 over their last four games. “The new [Vine Valley Athletic] league is better for travel with better competition against Napa teams,” mentions Fioritto.

Currently 4-5 in league competition, the Dragons face Cardinal Newman at home and Napa on the road before finishing up the regular season against Ukiah on senior night.

“I’m excited to get another win against Ukiah on senior night,” exclaims Powers. Senior night will take place on Thurs., Oct. 25 at Agua Caliente Aquatic Center with game time scheduled for 4:00pm.
